Whilst Portuguese-speaking African countries remain, to a large extent, on the periphery of global debates on restitution, this issue brings together some of the most substantial contributions on the subject, drawing on Mozambique and its diaspora. Spanning Maputo, Durban and the Amakhuwa Zanzibari community, the texts explore formulations, silences and claims that transcend both colonial and national frameworks, leaving open what restitution might come to mean and what it might set in motion within these contexts. Edited by Catarina Simão – includes texts by Maimuna Adams, Jessemusse Cacinda, Titos Pelembe, Eduardo Quive and Catarina Simão.
