Researcher Cecilia Veracini (CRIA NOVA FCSH) gave a pitch on her research within the Laboratory of Environmental Anthropology and Behavioural Ecology (LAE), which focuses on primate populations on the islands of Cape Verde.
The presentation explored the ways in which these primates interact and the similarities they share with human behaviour, including conflicts between groups over territory and access to food, which bear parallels to dynamics observed amongst their human relatives.
The panel was part of the NOVA FCSH Research Day 2026, where CRIA participated with contributions that invite reflection on anthropology from the perspective of its multiple intersections between the social, environmental and behavioural spheres.
