Elisabeth Schober is an associate professor working at the University of Oslo. She has done fieldwork on shipbuilding in South Korea and the Philippines. Her most recent work has led her to the port city of Hamburg. She has recently led two projects - one on the life cycle of containerships and funded by the Norwegian Research Council (2019-2023) and one on global container ports funded by an ERC-Starting Grant (2020-2025). She is the author of "Base Encounters. The US Armed Forces in South Korea" (Pluto Press, 2016), and is part of the editorial collective of the journal "Focaal."
