57 years old, divorced, assistant professor at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Coimbra. Fernando Florêncio holds a PhD in African Studies (2003), an MA in African Studies (1995) and a degree in Social Anthropology (1990). He researches on African political systems, traditional authorities and states and carried out several field works in Africa, especially in Mozambique and Angola. He headed the EU Mission in Rwanda with UNAMIR between 1995 and 1997.
