The master’s degree in Portuguese Culture was completed at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) where in 2003 Lurdes Nicolau presented her thesis, focusing on Portuguese gypsies living in Pamplona, Spain. She developed the research work for her PhD thesis in the area of Social and Human Sciences (UTAD, 2010) studying the gypsies in Trás-os-Montes region, deepening the knowledge about this population and also dealing with inter-ethnic relationship, both in rural and urban areas. Associated researcher of CRIA (NOVA FCSH division) and collaborator of the Centre for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (CETRAD/UTAD).
