Margarida Lopes Fernandes is an integrated researcher at Centre for Research in Anthropology. She works at the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forests and has been working for more than 25 years in conservation projects such as the reintroduction of Iberian Lynx. She has been promoting multidisciplinary collaborations for a long time having published in the areas of Veterinary, Genetics, Ecology and Ethnoecology. She has been involved in COST action concerning genomics and integrates the Board of the Spanish Society for Study and Conservation of mammals. Margarida gave over 25 talks at national and international meetings as well as for schools, universities, urban and rural events. Mainly interested in combining different types of data to address questions related with the relationship between humans and non-humans in particular wild predators. Her research interests focus on combining socio-ecological, genomic, anthropological data and zoonosis dynamics in order to understand risks for local communities and wild threatened species. She supports scientific based decisions and advocates involvement of local actors in conservation processes.
