Margarida Fernandes studied Anthropology and Geography (B.Sc. University College London, UK, 1988) and holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology (University of Kent at Canterbury, UK, 1998). Anthropology Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology at NOVA FCSH (NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Lisbon, Portugal), Senior researcher at CRIA (Centre for Research in Anthropology, Portugal). Member of the International Urban Symposium and of the Scientific Committee of the Journal Urbanities. Currently coordinator of the 3rd cycle (doctorate) and member of the coordination committee of the Anthropology Department of NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
